A c o n c u r r e n t R E S O L U T I O N
To recognize the 250th anniversary of the United States Marine Corps.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO (THE SENATE CONCURRING):
WHEREAS, The United States Marine Corps was established on November 10, 1775, in Tun Tavern, Philadelphia; and
WHEREAS, Since its founding, the United States Marine Corps has earned a distinguished reputation as one of the world's premier naval infantry forces, with a legacy built on an unwavering fighting spirit and strict adherence to the highest standards; and
WHEREAS, Marines pride themselves on exemplifying its motto of "Semper Fidelis" or "Always Faithful"; and
WHEREAS, Marines have played a pivotal role in shaping the course of American history. From the shores of Tripoli to the sands of Iwo Jima, from the jungles of Vietnam to the deserts of the Middle East, the courage and sacrifice of the Marines have been instrumental in securing our nation's freedoms; and
WHEREAS, On any given day, nearly 38,000 Marines are forward deployed around the globe, enabling the Corps to be first on scene and first to help; and
WHEREAS, On November 10, 2025, Marines around the world will take a moment to reflect, commemorate, and celebrate 250 years of service; now therefore be it
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the 136th General Assembly of the State of Ohio, in adopting this resolution, recognize the 250th anniversary of the United States Marine Corps; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this resolution to the news media of Ohio.
