A c o n c u r r e n t R E S O L U T I O N

To congratulate the United States of America's Olympic hockey teams on their championship victories over Canada.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO (THE SENATE CONCURRING):

WHEREAS, Outstanding athletic achievements reflect great credit upon our nation; and

WHEREAS, The Olympic Games are considered the world's preeminent international sporting event; and

WHEREAS, The United States of America's men's and women's national hockey teams each achieved victory against Canada, also referred to herein as "that country up north," to become Olympic champions; and

WHEREAS, Both contests were decided in overtime by golden goal, demonstrating exceptional skill, resolve, and competitive excellence; and

WHEREAS, These victories further affirm the strength and prominence of American hockey and establish the United States of America as the preeminent world power in the sport; and

WHEREAS, The players, coaches, and support personnel of both teams have distinguished themselves as exemplary representatives of the United States of America and serve as an inspiration to athletes throughout Ohio and the nation; now therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the 136th General Assembly of the State of Ohio, in adopting this resolution, recognize and commend the United States of America's men's and women's national hockey teams for their overtime golden goal victories over that country up north; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit duly authenticated copies of this resolution to the appropriate representatives of the teams as an expression of our esteem and to the news media of Ohio.
