A c o n c u r r e n t R E S O L U T I O N
Recognizing the National Black Caucus of State Legislators on the occasion of its 50th Anniversary.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO (THE SENATE CONCURRING):
WHEREAS, The National Black Caucus of State Legislators (NBCSL) is celebrating its 50th Anniversary, marking five decades of service, leadership, and policy innovation on behalf of African American communities across the United States; and
WHEREAS, NBCSL is a bipartisan membership organization representing more than 700 African American state legislators nationwide, collectively amplifying the voices of over 50 million African Americans; and
WHEREAS, Since its founding in 1977, NBCSL has served as a national network and clearinghouse for the exchange of ideas, research, and best practices among African American state legislators and their staff, strengthening their ability to craft effective public policy; and
WHEREAS, NBCSL has advanced its mission through high-quality research, training, and educational initiatives that support legislators in making informed decisions on issues affecting African Americans and other underserved communities; and
WHEREAS, NBCSL has been a leading national advocate on matters of equity, economic opportunity, health, education, criminal justice reform, and community well-being, and continues to champion collaborative, bipartisan solutions to the most pressing challenges facing states; and
WHEREAS, The organization's work in developing resolutions and model legislation has empowered state legislators—including members of the Ohio General Assembly—to introduce and advance policies that improve outcomes for families, strengthen communities, and expand opportunity; and
WHEREAS, NBCSL's 50-year legacy reflects a sustained commitment to public service, leadership development, and the advancement of policies that uplift historically marginalized communities; and
WHEREAS, The Ohio General Assembly recognizes the invaluable contributions of NBCSL to state legislatures across the nation and celebrates the organization's continued partnership with Ohio lawmakers; now therefore be it
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the 136th General Assembly of the State of Ohio, in adopting this resolution, congratulate the National Black Caucus of State Legislators on its 50th Anniversary and commend its decades of leadership, advocacy, and service; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit duly authenticated copies of this resolution to the National Black Caucus of State Legislators as a symbol of our esteem and recognition, and to the news media of Ohio.
