A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring Owen Scott on winning a 2025 Division II State Track and Field Championship.

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to commend Owen Scott as the 2025 Division II State Champion in the 1,600-meter run; and

WHEREAS, A diligent and capable individual, Owen Scott is deserving of recognition for his exemplary accomplishments as a member of the Van Wert High School track and field team. At the 2025 Division II State Meet, he won first place in the 1,600-meter run with a personal-best and school-record time of 4:10.19, and his notable record of personal achievement stands as a hallmark for others; and

WHEREAS, Through his participation in sports, Owen Scott has learned important lessons of discipline, perseverance, hard work, and good sportsmanship that will undoubtedly be of great benefit to him throughout his life. Through his outstanding efforts, he has inspired many people to excel in various areas of endeavor, and he has set an example worthy of emulation; and

WHEREAS, In a society that seeks to teach the future leaders of our state and nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and the rewards of individual effort, athletic competition has become a valuable educational tool. With sports contributing to the development of countless youth, we are happy to congratulate such a fine athlete as Owen Scott; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud Owen Scott on winning the 2025 Division II State Championship in the 1,600-meter run and extend best wishes for continued success; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Owen Scott.
