Honoring the Henn Mansion on its Centennial.
WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to the Henn Mansion on the memorable occasion of its Centennial; and
WHEREAS, This is an important milestone, and celebration is certainly in order. Located on Lake Erie in Euclid, this brick structure was constructed as the residence of Albert W. Henn, and after he died in 1947, the property was transferred to the City of Euclid, which used it for the Euclid Board of Education offices and then to house the recreation department before letting it fall into disrepair. When the city proposed demolishing the house in 1996, a group of concerned citizens formed the Friends of the Henn Mansion to acquire and restore it, successfully preserving this piece of local history and having it listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000, and it is now used as a rentable event venue; and
WHEREAS, Those who have nurtured and sustained the Henn Mansion merit praise for their remarkable initiative, diligence, and resolve. With a wealth of vision and vitality, they have shown how very much can be accomplished by a group of conscientious, industrious people, and they can be proud that their unflagging commitment to education and history has made it possible for the structure to flourish; and
WHEREAS, The Henn Mansion has enhanced the quality of life within the surrounding area, and its contributions to Euclid’s cultural heritage have earned it the gratitude and respect of the entire community. We are certain that this noteworthy landmark will remain a fine representation of the area’s past for years to come; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate the Henn Mansion on its One Hundredth Anniversary and extend best wishes for the future; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Henn Mansion.
