A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring Westlake United Methodist Church on its Bicentennial.

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Westlake United Methodist Church on its Two Hundredth Anniversary, celebrated September 6-7, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Recognition of this significant milestone is a fitting tribute to Westlake United Methodist Church, for over the past two centuries, it has attained a praiseworthy record of service. Since its founding in 1825 as Dover Methodist Episcopal Church, Westlake UMC has thrived and flourished, and the achievements of this fine house of worship are a justifiable source of pride and an excellent reflection not only on the church itself but also on its devoted leaders and members and on Westlake as a whole; and

WHEREAS, The source of numerous social, religious, and humanitarian projects and programs, Westlake United Methodist Church has improved the area, and its tremendous contributions have gained it the esteem and appreciation of the entire community. We are certain that in the years to come, the church will maintain the tradition of spiritual enlightenment that has long been its hallmark; and

WHEREAS, A church anniversary is a special event that reinforces the enduring faith of the congregation and its leaders. Indeed, all those associated with Westlake United Methodist Church have given freely of their time and energy in support of its various projects and initiatives, and they are truly worthy of acknowledgement; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Westlake United Methodist Church on the occasion of its Two Hundredth Anniversary and extend best wishes for the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Westlake United Methodist Church.
