A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring The Ohio State University dance team on securing the 2026 UCA & UDA College National Division IA Jazz Championship.

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to applaud The Ohio State University dance team as the 2026 Universal Cheerleading Association & Universal Dance Association National Champion in the Division IA jazz category; and

WHEREAS, The Ohio State University dance team is made up of remarkable athletes who have worked diligently to showcase the collective talents of their exceptional squad. At this year’s UCA & UDA College National Division IA Jazz Championship, the Buckeyes won the crown with a score of 96.7833 for its routine inspired by “Black Swan,” earning the program its third consecutive title and sixth in the past seven years, and the members amply demonstrated impressive determination, maturity, and finesse in pursuit of this achievement; and

WHEREAS, This triumph reflects the staunch resolve of these young individuals, and it signifies the acquisition of valuable experience that is sure to benefit them in later life. Thanks to the tireless efforts of an exceptional OSU dance team coaching staff, including Coach Melissa McGhee, as well as the support of their Buckeye community, these athletes have met the demands of an extensive training regimen, and they have just cause for celebration; and

WHEREAS, All those who comprise The Ohio State University dance team have set an excellent example of what a dedicated group of athletes can achieve when guided by a committed coaching staff and surrounded by loyal fans, sports families, and boosters. These young competitors have certainly proven themselves to be dynamic athletic leaders, and we are confident that as they meet future challenges, they will take with them the valuable lessons they have gained through their participation in sports; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate The Ohio State University dance team on its 2026 UCA & UDA College National Division IA Jazz Championship title and count its members and coaches among the ranks of outstanding Ohioans; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to The Ohio State University dance team.
