A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring Ashlyn Smith as a 2026 Ohio High School State Powerlifting Champion.

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Ashlyn Smith on winning the 2026 Ohio High School State Powerlifting Championship in the 225-pound weight class; and

WHEREAS, A student at Norton High School, Ashlyn Smith has combined talent and competitive spirit with the highest ideals of good sportsmanship to establish herself as a truly exceptional young athlete. With admirable dedication, she has worked diligently toward attaining ultimate proficiency in powerlifting, and as a result, she won first place in the 225-pound weight class with a bench press of 195 pounds, a deadlift of 405 pounds, and a total weight of 935 pounds at this year’s Ohio High School State Powerlifting Championship; and

WHEREAS, Ashlyn Smith’s accomplishments and leadership, both in and out of competition, are a justifiable source of pride and a fine reflection not only on her but also on her family, her teammates, her coaches, her school, and her community. Her unwavering commitment to excellence has earned her the respect and esteem of many, and she is certainly worthy of high praise; and

WHEREAS, With athletic competition playing such an important role in the total education of our young people, we are extremely pleased to pay tribute to Ashlyn Smith on an exemplary season. Indeed, the same maturity and experience she has gained through her participation in powerlifting will greatly aid her in meeting the challenges of the future; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Ashlyn Smith on her 2026 Ohio High School State Powerlifting Championship and extend best wishes for continued success; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Ashlyn Smith.
