A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring Deionna Borders on winning a 2026 State Wrestling Championship.

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to recognize Deionna Borders on securing first place in the 235-pound weight class at the 2026 State Wrestling Meet; and

WHEREAS, Displaying exceptional form, ability, leadership, and dedication during the 2025-2026 season, Deionna Borders has certainly distinguished herself as one of the most talented wrestlers in the State of Ohio. After placing seventh in the state in 2023 and third in 2024, she won the state championship with an undefeated record in the 235-pound weight class in 2025, and this year she pinned her opponent from Archbold High School in 3:17 to earn her second consecutive state title and compiled a perfect 38-0 record in that weight class; and

WHEREAS, Throughout intense training and preparation, Deionna Borders has consistently demonstrated the talent, integrity, and motivation that are the hallmarks of a true champion. To her credit, she could always be counted on not only to shine individually but also to contribute significantly to her teammates' collective effort; and

WHEREAS, A senior at Berea-Midpark High School, Deionna Borders is truly worthy of acknowledgement for the formidable athletic gifts and the competitive spirit that she has so amply revealed throughout this past season. She has inspired her teammates, thrilled her fans, gained the admiration of her opponents, and made her coaches and family very proud; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud Deionna Borders on her impressive wrestling accomplishment and offer best wishes for a bright, rewarding future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Deionna Borders.
