A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring the Union County Cougars basketball team on winning the 2026 Ohio Special Olympics Indoor Winter Games Division 5 Championship.

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to commend the Union County Cougars basketball team as the 2026 Ohio Special Olympics Indoor Winter Games Division 5 Champion; and

WHEREAS, Known as a driven and spirited squad, the members of the Union County Cougars basketball team have developed into an accomplished group of athletes whose talent is equaled only by their admirable display of teamwork. Without exception, Austin Cunningham, Chase Gibson, Cayden Larriuz, Andrew Wright, Landon Hoover, Quinton Bodine, D.J. Litzke, Corey Ford, Ivan Green, and Leo Wright had prepared conscientiously in pursuit of the championship, devoting countless hours to training and practice in order to ensure peak conditioning; and

WHEREAS, Under the guidance of coaches Zach Noland and Eric Bodine, the members of the Union County Cougars basketball team have demonstrated remarkable energy, enthusiasm, and dedication in all of their endeavors. Indeed, they have epitomized the motivation and poise that befit authentic champions, and as a result, they defeated a tough Williams County Sharks team by the score of 34-33 to win this year's Ohio Special Olympics Indoor Winter Games Division 5 Championship title; and

WHEREAS, Each athlete on the Union County Cougars basketball team has exemplified the qualities necessary for excellence both in and out of sports. Through their participation in competition, these fine players have learned lessons of hard work and good sportsmanship that will undoubtedly be of great benefit to them throughout their lives; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud the Union County Cougars basketball team on its success and extend best wishes for the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Union County Cougars basketball team.
