A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring The University of Akron women’s swimming and diving team as the 2026 Mid-American Conference Champion.

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to The University of Akron women's swimming and diving team on securing the 2026 Mid-American Conference Championship; and

WHEREAS, The University of Akron women's swimming and diving team has achieved a tremendous feat in winning its fifth consecutive Mid-American Conference crown, and the culmination of an exemplary season was marked by earning 771 points at this year's Mid-American Conference Championships. This strong performance, combined with an adept drive to succeed, has led the squad to this outstanding victory, and the group has earned the appreciation and admiration of many; and

WHEREAS, The accomplishments and development of The University of Akron women's swimming and diving team are fine examples of what can be attained by a group of hard-working young people supported by a dedicated coaching staff such as the one led by Brian Peresie. Throughout extensive conditioning and training, the members have developed into dynamic competitors, and they are deserving of acknowledgement; and

WHEREAS, With great admiration, we congratulate the athletes who comprise The University of Akron women's swimming and diving team, for they have overcome many formidable opponents and displayed tremendous prowess. Indeed, we are confident that as they meet their future challenges, they will take with them the lessons of camaraderie, diligence, and discipline; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, heartily applaud The University of Akron women's swimming and diving team as the 2026 Mid-American Conference Champion and praise the strength of this program and its participating athletes; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to The University of Akron women's swimming and diving team.
