A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring The University of Akron men’s basketball team on winning the 2026 Mid-American Conference Tournament Championship.

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to salute The University of Akron men's basketball team as the 2026 Mid-American Conference Tournament Champion; and

WHEREAS, Establishing a reputation for its skill and tenacity, The University of Akron men's basketball team is an impressive group of athletes whose talent and teamwork are unmatched. At the 2026 Mid-American Conference Tournament, the squad seized the title with a score of 79-76, earning its third consecutive league tournament crown, and it went on to qualify for the NCAA Tournament and finish the season with a 29-6 record. Clearly, this season will be celebrated for many years to come; and

WHEREAS, The members of The University of Akron men's basketball team rose to the occasion and proved themselves to be a dynamic force in college sports. Truly, these outstanding athletes can be proud of the accomplishments that were hard-won and deserved throughout the 2025-2026 season; and

WHEREAS, By remaining faithful to the highest standards of sportsmanship and teamwork, the members of The University of Akron men's basketball team primed themselves under the guidance of Head Coach John Groce to reach their full potential. Indeed, the Zips have demonstrated remarkable energy, enthusiasm, and dedication in all of their endeavors; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, recognize The University of Akron men's basketball team on its success and honor the athletes and coaches for their tremendous prowess; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to The University of Akron men's basketball team.
