A R E S O L U T I O N
Honoring Derion Williams on winning a 2026 Division III State Wrestling Championship.
WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to applaud Derion Williams as the 2026 Division III State Wrestling Champion in the 120-pound weight class; and
WHEREAS, This accomplishment is truly noteworthy, for Derion Williams has clearly demonstrated his talent and perseverance, as well as his mental and physical fortitude. As this year's Division III State Champion in the 120-pound weight class, he holds the special distinction of being the program's first champion in almost forty years, and he has exemplified all of the characteristics that are essential for success both in and out of the sports world, including courage, determination, and an innate sense of the principles of good sportsmanship; and
WHEREAS, In displaying such outstanding prowess as a member of the Trinity High School wrestling team, Derion Williams has earned the appreciation of his fellow athletes, the devotion of countless fans, and the respect of even his most determined rivals. Competition in athletics has enabled him to learn much about dedication and self-discipline, and we take this opportunity to acknowledge his exemplary record of achievement; and
WHEREAS, Wrestling is a sport that requires exceptional strength, stamina, and natural ability, and Derion Williams is to be commended for his commitment to this demanding activity. In attaining his athletic goals, he has consistently exhibited the skill and integrity that are the hallmarks of a true champion; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate Derion Williams on his personal success and salute him as one of Ohio's finest young citizens; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Derion Williams.
