A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring Connor Smith as a 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Champion.

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Connor Smith on winning the 2026 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship title in the high jump; and

WHEREAS, A junior at Ohio Wesleyan University, Connor Smith has combined talent and competitive spirit with the highest ideals of good sportsmanship to establish himself as a truly exceptional young athlete. With admirable dedication, he has worked diligently toward attaining ultimate proficiency in track and field, and as a result, he placed first in the high jump with a leap of 2.12 meters and earned All-American first-team honors at this year's NCAA Division III Indoor Championship Meet; and

WHEREAS, Connor Smith's accomplishments and leadership, both in and out of competition, are a justifiable source of pride and a fine reflection not only on him but also on his family, his teammates, his coaches, his school, and his hometown. His unwavering commitment to excellence is reflected in his breaking his own personal record, and he has gained the respect and esteem of many; and

WHEREAS, With athletic competition playing such an important role in the total education of our young people, we are extremely pleased to pay tribute to Connor Smith on an exemplary season. Indeed, the same maturity and experience he has gained through his participation in track and field will greatly aid him in meeting the challenges of the future, and he is certainly worthy of high praise; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Connor Smith on his 2026 NCAA Division III Championship crown and extend best wishes for continued success; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Connor Smith.
