A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring Team Ohio on winning the 2026 Special Olympics U.S.A. Games Division 1 Championship in basketball.

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to commend Team Ohio as the 2026 Special Olympics U.S.A. Games Division 1 Champion in basketball; and

WHEREAS, Known as a driven and spirited squad, the members of Team Ohio have developed into an accomplished group of athletes whose talent is equaled only by their admirable display of teamwork. Without exception, they prepared conscientiously in pursuit of the championship, devoting countless hours to training and practice in order to ensure peak conditioning; and

WHEREAS, The members of Team Ohio have demonstrated remarkable energy, enthusiasm, and dedication in all of their endeavors, and they have epitomized the motivation and poise that befit authentic champions. The players, which included Kenneth Blair, Ray Slaughter, Deytin Giddens, Floyd Osborn, Daivon Porter, Bryant Taylor, Willie Chambers, Marquan Robinson, Bilal Abdiwahab, and Eric Bouyer, came together as a team to defeat a tough New Jersey opponent by the score of 54-46 and won this year's Special Olympics U.S.A. Games Division 1 Championship title in basketball; and

WHEREAS, Each athlete on Team Ohio has exemplified the qualities necessary for excellence both in and out of sports. Through their participation in competition, these fine players have learned important lessons that derive from discipline, hard work, and good sportsmanship and will undoubtedly be of great benefit to them throughout their lives; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud Team Ohio on its success at the 2026 Special Olympics U.S.A. Games and extend best wishes for the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Team Ohio.
