A R E S O L U T I O N

To designate and commemorate May 6 - 12, 2025, as Nurses and Health Professionals Week in the State of Ohio.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

WHEREAS, Nurses and health professionals play a vital role in safeguarding the health and well-being of Ohio residents, providing compassionate, high-quality care in hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, and homes; and

WHEREAS, These dedicated professionals work tirelessly, often in challenging conditions, to care for the sick and injured, promote wellness, and provide critical public health services; and

WHEREAS, The COVID-19 pandemic, the current measles outbreak, and the ongoing opiate crisis, among other chronic public health issues, have underscored the indispensable contributions of nurses and health professionals, who have demonstrated extraordinary courage, resilience, and commitment to their patients and communities; and

WHEREAS, Recognizing Nurses and Health Professionals Week serves to raise awareness of the critical need to support and retain health care workers by improving working conditions, ensuring fair wages, and investing in health care education and training programs; and

WHEREAS, The health care sector is a significant contributor to Ohio's economy, with over 200,000 registered nurses and health care professionals working tirelessly to improve individual patient's lives, public health, and enhance community well-being; now therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Ohio House of Representatives of the 136th General Assembly, do hereby designate the week of May 6-12, 2025, as Nurses and Health Professionals Week in the State of Ohio; and be it further

RESOLVED, That this legislative body encourages all Ohioans to recognize and honor the invaluable contributions of nurses and health professionals by expressing gratitude, supporting health care initiatives, and advocating for policies that promote workforce sustainability and patient care excellence; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit duly authenticated copies of this resolution to the Governor of Ohio, the Ohio Department of Health, the Ohio Board of Nursing, Ohio Nurses Association, and other relevant organizations as an expression of our deep appreciation for the dedication and service of nurses and health professionals throughout our great state.
