A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring Deborah A. Ashenhurst on her retirement from the Ohio Department of Veterans Services.

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to Deborah A. Ashenhurst on the occasion of her retirement as the director of the Ohio Department of Veterans Services, May 1, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her distinguished career, Deborah Ashenhurst has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to performing her duties and fulfilling her responsibilities with the utmost efficiency and competence. Enlisting in the Ohio Army National Guard in 1978, she advanced through various posts and assignments to become the Adjutant General of the Ohio National Guard in 2011 and then a special assistant to the Vice Chief of the National Guard Bureau in 2015. After retiring from the military, she served as the senior vice president of military strategy for R2 Associate and a commissioner of the Ohio Military Facilities Commission before being appointed by Governor Mike DeWine in 2019 as the director of the Ohio Department of Veterans Services, where she has supported Ohio’s veterans in all of her efforts; and

WHEREAS, Deborah Ashenhurst is, indeed, a remarkable individual, combining civic concern with selfless initiative to become a dynamic leader in the State of Ohio. Always sincere and energetic in her approach to her work, she has given generously of her time and abilities far beyond what was required or expected and has displayed a genuine commitment to improving the quality of life in our society; and

WHEREAS, The enthusiasm and expertise Deborah Ashenhurst has shown in her endeavors have earned her the respect of all those with whom she has been associated. As she retires, she has the satisfaction of knowing that she has provided a valuable service to the state and has established a record of personal and professional achievement that will stand as a hallmark for others to emulate; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate Deborah A. Ashenhurst on her retirement and salute her as one of Ohio’s finest citizens; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Deborah A. Ashenhurst.
