A R E S O L U T I O N
Honoring the Village of Tontogany on its One Hundred Fiftieth Anniversary.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate the Village of Tontogany on the auspicious occasion of its Sesquicentennial; and
WHEREAS, America is only as strong as her individual communities, which are unique and which make significant contributions to the culture of our state and nation. Incorporated in 1875 and named after Chief Tondoganie from the Ottawa Indian Tribe, the Village of Tontogany has experienced dramatic growth and change, and yet, commendably, it has retained the many engaging qualities that have endeared it to generations of inhabitants. Clearly, it has built on the best traditions of the past to ensure a future filled with hope and promise; and
WHEREAS, Over the past century and a half, the Village of Tontogany has enjoyed the benefits of a generous and civic‑minded population, and those who currently make the community their home take great pride in its rich heritage and its many local landmarks. Indeed, they have exhibited cooperation, integrity, and a willingness to work hard, and their efforts have certainly made the area a pleasant and friendly place in which to live; and
WHEREAS, The One Hundred Fiftieth Anniversary of the Village of Tontogany offers its citizens the opportunity to share their memories and experiences and to reflect on life in their close-knit community. A vigorous commitment to public service and an earnest devotion to lofty ideals have long been second nature to many of the village residents, and vigilance, industriousness, and generosity have come to typify their collective character; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, pay tribute to the Village of Tontogany on its Sesquicentennial and extend best wishes for continued peace and prosperity; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Village of Tontogany.
