A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring Sidney First Presbyterian Church on its Bicentennial.

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to Sidney First Presbyterian Church on the memorable occasion of its Two Hundredth Anniversary; and

WHEREAS, Sidney First Presbyterian Church has been an important place of worship in the community since 1825, first serving area residents in a log building that held the Shelby County seat, courthouse, jail, and church before Sidney was an organized village and eventually growing to the institution it is today. For the past two centuries, this House of God has served as a tremendous source of spiritual inspiration for its congregation, and it has encouraged countless people to pursue lives of service, learning, and fellowship; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious celebration offers the members of Sidney First Presbyterian Church the opportunity to share their memories and to reflect on the benefits of life in their close-knit community. Under the guidance of many fine religious leaders, both past and present, the parishioners have expanded on the best traditions of the past to ensure a benevolent and prosperous future, and they can be proud of the remarkable examples they have set through their values and principles; and

WHEREAS, The members of Sidney First Presbyterian Church have stood strong in the face of numerous challenges, and they have had a positive impact on the lives of many local residents. Indeed, this milestone represents their dedication and commitment to keep their faith alive in the surrounding community, and all those associated with this beacon of society are deserving of high praise; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud Sidney First Presbyterian Church on its Two Hundredth Anniversary and offer best wishes as it upholds its rich legacy of faith and fellowship in the years to come; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Sidney First Presbyterian Church.
