A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring The Ohio State University dance team as the 2026 UCA UDA College National Division IA Jazz Champion.

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to The Ohio State University dance team on securing the 2026 Universal Cheerleading Association & Universal Dance Association National Championship in the Division IA jazz category; and

WHEREAS, The Ohio State University dance team has achieved a tremendous feat in winning the national crown, its sixth such title in the past seven years, and the culmination of its exemplary season was marked by receiving a first-place score of 96.7833 for its routine inspired by “Black Swan.” The Buckeyes’ strong performance, combined with an adept drive to succeed, has led the squad to this outstanding victory, and the group has earned the appreciation and admiration of many; and

WHEREAS, The accomplishments and development of The Ohio State University dance team are fine examples of what can be attained by a group of hard-working young people supported by a dedicated coaching staff such as the one led by Melissa McGhee. Throughout extensive conditioning and training, the members have developed into dynamic competitors, and they are deserving of acknowledgement; and

WHEREAS, With great admiration, we congratulate the athletes who comprise The Ohio State University dance team, for they have overcome many formidable opponents and have never failed to display tremendous prowess. Indeed, we are confident that as they meet their future challenges, they will take with them the lessons of camaraderie, diligence, and discipline; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, heartily applaud The Ohio State University dance team as the 2026 UCA & UDA National Division IA Jazz Champion and praise the strength of this program and its participating athletes; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to The Ohio State University dance team.
