A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring Michelle Huang on winning a silver medal at the 2024 Pan American Kung Fu Championships.

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to Michelle Huang on earning a silver medal at the 2024 Pan American Kung Fu Championships; and

WHEREAS, Michelle Huang’s outstanding ability and spirited drive, as well as her quickness and tenacity, have distinguished her as a superior athlete, and as a result of her dedication, resolve, and skill, she won the silver medal in the Broadsword event at the 2024 Pan American Kung Fu Championships. A student at Olentangy Liberty High School, the first Ohioan selected for the national women’s kung fu team, and the youngest person named to the national adult kung fu team, she has represented our state at numerous national and international competitions with tremendous success, and she has gained the admiration and respect of all those who have witnessed her in action; and

WHEREAS, Few sports embody the spirit of individual accomplishment more than martial arts. Athletes such as Michelle Huang exemplify the qualities necessary for excellence in any sport, including discipline, agility, conditioning, and focus. Indeed, throughout long hours of practice and competition, she has excelled in all of her endeavors; and

WHEREAS, In a society that seeks to teach the future leaders of our state and nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and the rewards of individual effort, athletic competition has become a valuable tool. Through her participation in sports, Michelle Huang has learned lessons of perseverance, hard work, and fair and honest competition that will undoubtedly be of great benefit to her throughout her lifetime; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, pay tribute to Michelle Huang on her exemplary performance at the 2024 Pan American Kung Fu Championships and wish her all the best in her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Michelle Huang.
