136th General Assembly

Regular Session S. R. No. 324

2025-2026

Senators Weinstein, Johnson

A R E S O L U T I O N

Recognizing the Month of the Military Child in Ohio, April 2026.

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to observe April 2026 as the Month of the Military Child in Ohio; and

WHEREAS, Former U.S. Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger designated April as the Month of the Military Child in 1986 in an effort to increase public knowledge and understanding of the issues surrounding children who have a parent in the military. The dependents of U.S. Armed Forces members are to be acknowledged for their strength and resilience; and

WHEREAS, As military postings frequently change, personnel reassignments and deployments can be difficult for families, especially regarding educational transitions. Military students learn to be resilient as a result of attending multiple school systems from kindergarten through high school graduation, and consequently, their abilities to deal with life-changing events are a source of inspiration; and

WHEREAS, The State of Ohio is committed to easing the efforts of these scholastic transitions for dependents of military families so that they are afforded the same opportunities for success as their peers and are not delayed in achieving their educational goals. By observing the Month of the Military Child and participating in related activities, Ohioans demonstrate their support of the children of U.S. Armed Forces members; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, recognize April 2026 as the Month of the Military Child in Ohio and applaud military children for their tenacity and courage; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit duly authenticated copies of this Resolution to the news media of Ohio.
