A R E S O L U T I O N
In memory of Larry A. Mumper.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Larry A. Mumper on the sorrowful occasion of his death; and
WHEREAS, Larry Mumper left an indelible impression on the people whose lives he touched, and he will be remembered as a spirited individual who contributed immeasurably to the world around him. Widely renowned for his career in public office, he was a member of the Marion City Council for three years, holding the post of president pro tempore, and a commissioner for Marion County for three years before being elected to the Ohio Senate to represent the 26th District from 1997 through 2008, where he served as chair of the agriculture committee and vice chair of the education committee. Indeed, he will be remembered for his generosity, talents, and seemingly inexhaustible energy; and
WHEREAS, Larry Mumper’s regard for improving the quality of life in our society was clearly evident in his personal sacrifices of time and effort to family, friends, and community. Among his endeavors, he was a retired teacher and basketball and cross country coach, and he was active with numerous organization, including the Elgin Retired Teachers, Ohio, and National education associations, the Free and Accepted Masons, the National Rifle Association, the Ohio Farm Bureau, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 32, Moose Lodge 2866, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7201, the Marion Cemetery Board, the Marion County Republican Club, YMCA, the Marion Evening Lions Club, and the US Open Commission. Giving generously of his energy and abilities in all of his pursuits, he displayed exceptional concern and insight, and his absence will be keenly felt; and
WHEREAS, A loving husband to his wife, Karyle, a devoted father to his three children, Julie, Gregg, and the late Bradley, and a doting grandfather to his four grandchildren, Wells, Carter, Sam, and Kacey, Larry Mumper always used his talents to the benefit of others, and the warmth and understanding he readily extended to those around him will stand as a testament to his personal character. Although the void his death has created can never be filled, the legacy of care and commitment he established will surely live on; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, pay tribute to the memory of a truly honorable man, Larry A. Mumper; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the family of Larry A. Mumper.
