A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring Flat Rock Homes on its One Hundred Sixtieth Anniversary.

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Flat Rock Homes on the auspicious occasion of its One Hundred Sixtieth Anniversary; and

WHEREAS, Recognition of this prestigious milestone is, indeed, a fitting tribute to Flat Rock Homes, for since its inception, it has attained a remarkable record of service. Founded in Tiffin to care for young people orphaned by the Civil War, the former Ebenezer Orphan Institute opened its first home with twelve children in 1866, establishing a campus near Flat Rock two years later, but as the number of war orphans dwindled, it transitioned to developmental disability care by 1978. Today, this fine organization provides faith-based services for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families throughout Erie, Huron, Lorain, Seneca, and Sandusky counties, helping each person live with dignity, connection, and joy, and its accomplishments are a justifiable source of pride and an outstanding reflection not only on the agency itself but also on its hard-working staff and volunteers and on the community; and

WHEREAS, Over the past sixteen decades, Flat Rock Homes has enhanced the quality of life within the surrounding area, and its generous contributions have earned it the gratitude and respect of many. We are certain that as it maintains its unfaltering dedication to service and achievement, it will continue in the tradition of excellence that has long been its hallmark; and

WHEREAS, We are proud to note that it is through the unceasing efforts of organizations such as Flat Rock Homes that Ohio has gained a reputation as a state that is responsive to the needs of its citizens and has remained a pleasant place in which to live and work. It is truly deserving of high praise; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Flat Rock Homes on its One Hundred Sixtieth Anniversary and extend best wishes for ongoing success; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Flat Rock Homes.
