A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring Marilyn’s on receiving a 2026 Made In America Small Business Award.

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to commend Marilyn's on being presented with a 2026 Made In America Small Business Award by FOX Business; and

WHEREAS, This prestigious distinction is, indeed, a fitting tribute to Marilyn's, for it has been built on the highest standards of service and has distinguished itself as a worthy enterprise, earning the respect and esteem of the entire community. The shop is one of only three businesses nationwide being recognized during America's 250th anniversary by FOX Business for the same grit and sacrifice that built the nation, and its noteworthy accomplishments clearly demonstrate the potential of every establishment to have a positive effect on the quality of life in our society. The venture is known throughout the Lake Erie area as a community hub that welcomes all people, and for its generous contributions, including raising funds for youth campers at Lakeside Chautauqua, it is certainly to be applauded; and

WHEREAS, The success of Marilyn's is a justifiable source of pride and a fine reflection not only on the organization itself but also on the astute management of its owner, Marilyn Burns, on its hard-working employees, and on the community. Due to its outstanding effort and initiative, the venture has earned the gratitude and appreciation of many satisfied customers for its local souvenirs, necessary items for vacationers, toys, beach items, and especially its candy wall with new and vintage styles, and this remarkable enterprise is truly deserving of high praise; and

WHEREAS, Ohio's economic prosperity depends on businesses such as Marilyn's, which provide goods and services to the citizens of our state and nation. We are proud to note that it is through the dedicated efforts of individuals such as those associated with the iconic establishment, who are willing to invest in their communities, that our country has continued to grow and prosper; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate Marilyn's on its recent accolade and extend best wishes for the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Marilyn's.
