A R E S O L U T I O N
Honoring Matthew Schuler on his retirement.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Matthew Schuler on retiring as the executive director of the Ohio Casino Commission; and
WHEREAS, Matt Schuler is, indeed, a remarkable individual, for he has combined civic concern and commitment with selfless initiative to become a widely respected public servant. Commencing his tenure in state government as a page for the Ohio Senate while studying political science at The Ohio State University, he advanced to become a legislative aide for the chair of the Senate Finance Committee, and after a brief term in the private sector as the director of public policy services for the Ohio Manufacturers Association, he returned to the Ohio Statehouse, serving as the clerk and then chief of staff of the Senate before being named the first executive director for the Ohio Casino Control Commission, a position he has held for fifteen years; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Matt Schuler has clearly shown the potential of each person to have a positive effect on the quality of life in our society. He has been a leader, friend, and mentor to all who have worked with him. Always sincere and energetic in his approach to his work, he has distinguished himself as a conscientious and responsible Ohioan of the highest integrity, and he is truly deserving of high praise; and
WHEREAS, Matt Schuler has served not only as a public servant but also as a loving husband to his wife, Jill, and father to his four children, Noah, Hannah, Sophie, and Nick; and
WHEREAS, We are proud to note that it is through the unsurpassed efforts and deep commitment of conscientious people such as Matt Schuler that the State of Ohio continues to prosper. Over the years, he has striven to serve his fellow citizens to the best of his ability, and we applaud him for his fine efforts; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Matthew Schuler on the occasion of his retirement and extend best wishes for his and his family's health and happiness in the years to come; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Matthew Schuler.
