A R E S O L U T I O N
Honoring W.T. Young III as a 2026 Division II State Champion in track and field.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to W.T. Young III for his tremendous accomplishments in track and field during the 2026 season; and
WHEREAS, A diligent and capable individual, W.T. Young III is, indeed, deserving of special recognition for his outstanding accomplishments as a junior member of the Scott High School boys track and field team. At this year's Division II State Meet, he and his teammates, Christian Bourne, Aiden Miller, and Ta'Ron Williams, secured first place in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:26.38, and in the individual competitions, he placed second in the 100-meter dash as well as fifth in the 200-meter dash. In addition, he went on to the 2026 Adidas Track Nationals, where he received All-American honors in the 4x200- and 4x100-meter relays as well as the 100- and 200-meter dashes, and his exemplary record of personal achievement stands as a hallmark worthy of emulation; and
WHEREAS, In a society that seeks to teach the future leaders of our state and nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and the rewards of individual and group effort, athletic competition has become a valuable educational tool. Through his involvement in high school sports, W.T. Young has learned the important lessons of discipline, perseverance, hard work, and good sportsmanship that will undoubtedly be of great benefit to him throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, W.T. Young has conscientiously applied himself to the quest for excellence as an athlete, training and practicing diligently in order to ensure peak conditioning. Time and again, he has risen to the occasion, maintaining his morale, composure, and good sportsmanship, and he has gained the respect of even his most determined rivals. Clearly, his enthusiastic involvement in track and field and his exceptional prowess have made his family and friends very proud; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate W.T. Young III on his exceptional performance and extend best wishes for continued success; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to W.T. Young III.
