A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring Team Ohio as the 2026 Special Olympics U.S.A. Games Division 1 gold medalist in basketball.

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to applaud Team Ohio on winning the 2026 Special Olympics U.S.A. Games Division 1 gold medal in traditional 5v5 basketball; and

WHEREAS, Team Ohio is made up of remarkable athletes who have worked diligently to showcase the collective talents of their exceptional unit. At the 2026 Special Olympics U.S.A. Games, the players won the traditional 5v5 Division 1 basketball crown with a victory over a tough New Jersey squad, and the members amply demonstrated impressive determination, maturity, and finesse in pursuit of this achievement; and

WHEREAS, This triumph reflects the staunch resolve of these fine individuals, and it signifies the acquisition of valuable experience that is sure to benefit them in later life. Thanks to the tireless efforts of Team Ohio's exceptional coaching staff, as well as the support of their community, these athletes have met the demands of an extensive training regimen, and they have just cause for celebration; and

WHEREAS, All those who comprise Team Ohio have set an excellent example of what a dedicated group of athletes can achieve when guided by a committed coaching staff and surrounded by loyal fans, families, and supporters. These competitors have certainly proven themselves to be dynamic players, and we are confident that as they meet future challenges, they will take with them the valuable lessons they have gained through their participation in basketball; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate Team Ohio on its 2026 Special Olympics U.S.A. Games Division 1 Championship title and count its players and coaches among the ranks of outstanding Ohioans; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Team Ohio.
