A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring Yariel Soto Torrado as a gold medalist at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games.

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to Yariel Soto Torrado on earning the gold medal in the decathlon at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo; and

WHEREAS, A 2019 graduate of Centerville High School and a representative of Puerto Rico at this year's Central American and Caribbean Games, Yariel Soto Torrado has combined talent and competitive spirit with the highest ideals of good sportsmanship to establish himself as a truly exceptional athlete. With admirable dedication, he has worked diligently to attain ultimate proficiency in his demanding athletic endeavors, and his tenacity and skill secured him an astonishing 7,884 points to be crowned the decathlon champion; and

WHEREAS, Yariel Soto Torrado's outstanding strength, ability, and drive have distinguished him as a superior competitor, and he has gained the support and respect of all those who witnessed his tremendous performance at this year's Central American and Caribbean Games. Truly, he has proven himself to be one of the finest athletes in the world, and we applaud the success he has achieved through his resolve and dedication; and

WHEREAS, Yariel Soto Torrado has conscientiously applied himself to the quest for excellence as an athlete, training and practicing diligently in order to ensure peak conditioning, and he has risen to the occasion by maintaining his morale and composure in competition against his most determined opponents. His resolve for physical aptitude has enabled him to learn much about resilience, self‑discipline, and leadership, and in the process, his exceptional prowess has made his family, friends, and hometown very proud; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate Yariel Soto Torrado as the decathlon gold medalist at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games and salute him as one of Ohio's finest citizens; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Yariel Soto Torrado.
