A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring Leah Varga as a 2026 ADCC Amateur World Champion.

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to Leah Varga on placing first at the ADCC Amateur World Championship; and

WHEREAS, This accomplishment is truly noteworthy, for Leah Varga has clearly demonstrated her talent and perseverance, as well as her mental and physical fortitude as a martial arts practitioner of Brazilian jiu-jitsu and judo. Representing Ohio and the United States at this year's ADCC Amateur World Championship in Kraków, Poland, she won four matches in a twenty athlete international division, which featured competitors from fourteen different countries, to secure the overall title, and she accomplished this exemplary feat without having a point scored against her. Clearly, she has exemplified all of the characteristics that are essential for success both in and out of the sports world, including courage, determination, and an innate sense of the principles of good sportsmanship; and

WHEREAS, In displaying such exceptional prowess, Leah Varga has earned the appreciation of her fellow athletes, the devotion of countless fans, and the respect of even her most determined rivals. Participation in national and international competition has enabled her to learn much about dedication and self-discipline, and her triumph at the ADCC Amateur World Championship signifies the acquisition of valuable experience that is sure to benefit her later in life; and

WHEREAS, To excel in martial arts competition requires exceptional commitment, discipline, stamina, and natural ability, and Leah Varga is to be commended for her commitment to this demanding sport. In attaining her athletic goals, she has consistently exhibited the skill and integrity that are the hallmarks of a true champion; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate Leah Varga as the 2026 ADCC Amateur World Champion and extend best wishes for continued success; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Leah Varga.
