A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring Mary Jo Harris for outstanding service to the State of Ohio.

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to Mary Jo Harris on the occasion of her retirement from the Ohio Senate staff; and

WHEREAS, Mary Jo Harris is a remarkable individual, for she has combined civic concern and dedication with selfless initiative to become a dynamic member of the Ohio Senate staff. Commencing her tenure in 1992 as the secretary for Senator Richard H. Finan, she advanced to serve as the executive assistant to the Senate President from 1997 to 2017, when she was named the Rules and Reference Clerk, and she has brought the full measure of her enthusiasm, intelligence, and public spirit to her duties; and

WHEREAS, Over the past thirty-four years, Mary Jo Harris has given generously of her time, energy, and abilities to assist the Ohio Senate and has demonstrated a praiseworthy commitment to the success of state government. She has provided a valuable service by helping to maintain the efficiency and effectiveness of the legislative process, and without the efforts of people such as her, many services that are currently available to the constituents of our state would cease to exist; and

WHEREAS, Mary Jo Harris' contributions to the Ohio Senate have been greatly appreciated by all those who have had the pleasure of working with her. She has displayed exceptional devotion, responsibility, and enthusiasm in her endeavors, and we extend best wishes to her and her family for the years to come; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud Mary Jo Harris on her retirement from state service and salute her as one of Ohio's finest citizens; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Mary Jo Harris.
