A c o n c u r r e n t R E S O L U T I O N

To urge the Norwegian Nobel Committee to award the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize to President Donald Trump.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO (THE SENATE CONCURRING):

WHEREAS, President Donald Trump applied pressure on North Korea to end its illicit weapons programs and bring peace to the region, by uniting the international community to impose international sanctions on North Korea; and

WHEREAS, On April 20, 2018, North Korea announced it will end its nuclear weapons and intercontinental ballistic missile testing programs; and

WHEREAS, North and South Korea subsequently announced that they will work toward ending the Korean War, seek to reunify their countries, and will proceed to denuclearize the Korean peninsula; and

WHEREAS, President Trump's difficult work to ease nuclear tension in North and South Korea makes him a worthy candidate for this coveted and cherished prize; now therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the 132nd General Assembly of the State of Ohio, in adopting this resolution, urge the Norwegian Nobel Committee to award the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize to President Donald Trump in recognition of his extraordinary efforts to strengthen cooperation between North and South Korea, end the Korean war, ensure nuclear disarmament, and bring peace to the region; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit duly authenticated copies of this resolution to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, the President of the United States, and the news media of Ohio.
