A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring the Wright State University Model United Nations team as the 2017 Outstanding Delegation.

WHEREAS,  The members of the House of Representatives of the 132nd General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate the Wright State University Model United Nations team on its exemplary performance at the 2017 National Model United Nations Conference in New York City; and

WHEREAS,  The members of the Wright State University Model United Nations team are a remarkable group of academicians, combining talent and competitive spirit with exceptional knowledge to win the Outstanding Delegation Award, six Outstanding Position Paper awards, and two peer-selected Outstanding Delegate in Committee awards at this year’s National Model United Nations Conference. These honors are a justifiable source of pride not only for the members and their mentors but also for the entire WSU community, for this was the thirty-eighth consecutive year that the team earned a prestigious delegation award; and 

WHEREAS,  Representing Italy, the team endured long hours of practice and preparation, and its success positively reflects its faculty advisers, Vaughn Shannon and Liam Anderson. The head delegates, Amanda Baker and Cody Smith, along with the student members, Csongor Bajnoczki, Daniel Bowman, Crystal Burns, Allyson Clark, Peyton Clark, Christian Cooper, Annalecia Heironimus, Caroline Hoffman, Autumn Kern, Jarod Kiser, Porter Lyons, Pamala Michael, Rahima Nour-Hamadi, Alex Oxner, Dan Palmer, Stephanie Patino-Garfias, Deki Peldon, Jakob Puckett, Samantha Pugh, Tony Riedel, Garrett Teets, Sarah Upton, and Nickii Webb, have displayed a degree of determination and motivation of which they can be proud; and

WHEREAS,  Envisioning a world comprised of civically engaged people who strive for peaceful,
multi-lateral conflict resolution and equitable, sustainable human development, the National Model United Nations strives to advance its members’ understanding of contemporary international issues. The maturity and experience all those associated with the Wright State University Model United Nations team have gained through their participation in the program will greatly aid them in meeting the challenges of the future, and their impressive accomplishments reflect a bright, promising future for each of its members, who have proven that they are tomorrow’s ambitious leaders; therefore be it

RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 132nd General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud the Wright State University Model United Nations team for outstanding achievement and salute the members and advisers as fine citizens; and be it further

RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Wright State University Model United Nations team.
