A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring Sarah Clapper on winning the 2017 Miss Ohio pageant.

WHEREAS,  The members of the House of Representatives of the 132nd General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to Sarah Clapper on being crowned Miss Ohio 2017; and

WHEREAS,  An intelligent, motivated, and personable woman, Sarah Clapper has worked diligently to develop her talents and use her voice to empower athletes around the country to persevere after facing career-ending injuries. She was a double preliminary winner in the 2017 Miss Ohio pageant, earning the talent award for her piano rendition of “White Water Chopped Sticks” and placing first in the lifestyle and fitness category. This year marked her final pursuit to garner this crown, and her victory in being named Miss Ohio 2017 was momentous; and

WHEREAS,  Sarah Clapper has amply demonstrated her ability to meet challenges with enthusiasm, and she has displayed an exceptional willingness to work hard to achieve superior results. Besting a field of eighteen other contestants in the statewide Miss Ohio Scholarship Program, she has accomplished a remarkable feat and has proven to countless young Ohioans the importance of setting lofty aspirations and the benefits that derive from attaining personal success; and

WHEREAS,  Sarah Clapper has derived extra energy from her many activities and accolades, and her integrity and steadfast determination are truly admirable. Indeed, her amiable style will carry her far beyond this event and will be of great value to her not only as a candidate for the 2018 Miss America Competition but also in the years to come; therefore be it

RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 132nd General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud Sarah Clapper on being named Miss Ohio 2017 and salute her for proudly representing our state; and be it further

RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Sarah Clapper.
