A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring Emily Weber on winning the 2017 Division III State long jump event.

WHEREAS,  The members of the House of Representatives of the 132nd General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Emily Weber as the 2017 Division III State Champion in the long jump; and

WHEREAS,  A diligent and capable individual, Emily Weber is deserving of recognition for her exemplary accomplishments as a senior member of the Loudonville High School girls track and field team. An exceptional athlete, she won first place in the long jump with an astounding leap of 18 feet, 1.5 inches at this year’s Division III State Meet, and her noteworthy record of personal achievement stands as a hallmark for others to emulate; and 

WHEREAS,  Through her participation in track and field, Emily Weber has learned important lessons of discipline, perseverance, hard work, and good sportsmanship that will undoubtedly be of great benefit to her throughout her life. Through her outstanding efforts, she has inspired countless people to excel in various areas of endeavor, and has time and again set an example worthy of emulation; and

WHEREAS,  In a society that seeks to teach the future leaders of our state and nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and the rewards of individual effort, athletic competition has become a valuable educational tool. With sports playing such an important part in the development of our young people, we are overjoyed to pay tribute to such a tremendous athlete as Emily Weber; therefore be it

RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 132nd General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud Emily Weber on her Division III State Championship and salute her as one of Ohio’s finest young athletes; and be it further

RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Emily Weber.
