A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring David Baker on receiving the 2017 Sports Leadership Award.

WHEREAS,  The members of the House of Representatives of the 132nd General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to David Baker on being presented with the 2017 Sports Leadership Award at the 34th annual March of Dimes Sports Luncheon; and

WHEREAS,  David Baker is, indeed, a remarkable individual, for he has combined civic concern and dedication with the utmost professionalism to become a dynamic leader in the Canton area. This prestigious honor is a fitting tribute to him for the outstanding efforts he has displayed as the president of the Pro Football Hall of Fame for the past four years, and during his tenure, he has demonstrated exemplary leadership in shepherding several initiatives, including the ongoing Johnson Controls Hall of Fame Village expansion; and 

WHEREAS,  David Baker has brought to his position a wealth of experience gained as a professional basketball player, a city councilman, a mayor, and the commissioner of the Arena Football League, and his tremendous drive has helped to guarantee a high level of success for all projects with which he has been involved. Among those familiar with his valuable contributions, his name has become virtually synonymous with initiative, integrity, and intelligence, and considering his productive efforts, it is no surprise that he has won a host of admirers; and

WHEREAS,  David Baker’s noteworthy accomplishments clearly show the potential of each person to have a positive effect on the quality of life in our society, and through his unfaltering commitment and generous nature, he has earned the respect and appreciation of all who know him. In applauding him for his willingness to assume an important leadership role in the community, we note with pride that it is through the endeavors of conscientious individuals such as he that the State of Ohio remains a fine place to live; therefore be it

RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 132nd General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate David Baker on his recent accolade and salute him as one of Ohio’s finest citizens; and be it further

RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to David Baker.
