A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring the Wheelersburg High School football team as the 2017 Division V State Champion.

WHEREAS,  The members of the House of Representatives of the 132nd General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to the Wheelersburg High School football team on winning the 2017 Division V State Championship; and

WHEREAS,  Known as a driven and spirited squad, the Wheelersburg High School football team has developed into an efficient group of highly skilled athletes whose talent is equaled only by their commendable display of teamwork. With ardent commitment, the Pirates have worked diligently toward attaining ultimate proficiency in their sport, and consequently, they defeated a tough Pemberville Eastwood team by the score of 21-14, in overtime to win the 2017 Division V State Championship, their first state crown since 1989; and 

WHEREAS,  The members of the Wheelersburg High School football team have demonstrated remarkable energy, enthusiasm, and dedication in all of their endeavors, and their athletic prowess is reflected in their outstanding success. Indeed, the members have established themselves as winners, both in and out of competition, and their tremendous efforts are worthy of admiration; and

WHEREAS,  The Wheelersburg High School football team has exemplified the qualities necessary for excellence in sports, including strength, stamina, agility, and perseverance. Through their participation in athletic competition, these fine individuals have learned lessons of hard work and good sportsmanship that will undoubtedly be of great benefit to them throughout their lives; therefore be it

RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 132nd General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud the Wheelersburg High School football team as the State Champion and pay tribute to the players and coaches as some of Ohio’s finest citizens; and be it further

RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Wheelersburg High School football team.
