A R E S O L U T I O N

In memory of Fire Controlman First Class Gary Leo Rehm, Jr.

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 132nd General Assembly of Ohio wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Fire Controlman First Class Gary Leo Rehm, Jr., in their time of bereavement; and

WHEREAS, Gary Rehm was a proud American who joined the U.S. Navy to follow in the tradition of his World War II veteran grandfather, and his death is an unmistakable tragedy. He served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, and he leaves behind a legacy of dedicated and devoted service for others to emulate; and

WHEREAS, A graduate of Oberlin High School, Gary Rehm joined the U.S. Navy in 1998, and his untiring efforts on behalf of the nation he so loved earned him the respect and admiration of many in his community. He always put others before himself, even until his last moments, and it is doubtless that he was a true hero. Our state and nation would do well to have more people following his example of bravery and service; and

WHEREAS, Gary Rehm’s personal sacrifices of time and energy to his family, including his wife, Erin, his friends, his community, and his country will certainly live beyond him, and he will long be remembered for his kindness and his unwavering commitment. Though the void created by his death can never be filled, the warmth and understanding he so readily extended to others will stand as a testament to his personal character, and he will be remembered fondly by all those who loved him and served beside him; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 132nd General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, pay tribute to the memory of a truly honorable and courageous man, Fire Controlman First Class Gary Leo Rehm, Jr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the family of Fire Controlman First Class Gary Leo Rehm, Jr.
