Honoring General Curtis M. Scaparrotti on receiving the Distinguished Military Leadership Award.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 132nd General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate General Curtis M. Scaparrotti on being presented with the Distinguished Military Leadership Award by the Atlantic Council, May 10, 2018; and
WHEREAS, Curtis Scaparrotti’s impressive credentials readily confirm how very worthy he is of this distinction. A native of Logan and a 1978 graduate of the United States Military Academy, West Point, he was promoted to the rank of four-star general in 2013, and he has contributed greatly to strengthening the relationships between the U.S. armed forces and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization through his work with United States European Command; and
WHEREAS, Curtis Scaparrotti has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to performing his duties and fulfilling his responsibilities with the utmost efficiency and competence, and he has certainly distinguished himself as a patriotic and hard-working American. Giving of his time, energy, and abilities with unparalleled integrity, he has earned the respect and admiration of all those with whom he has served and the gratitude of Americans everywhere; and
WHEREAS, It is imperative that we openly express our debt to the patriots who have served honorably in America’s armed forces, bearing this country’s standard with courage, dignity, and decency. Too many in our nation take for granted our precious rights and privileges, never adequately considering the enormous costs so frequently exacted in conjunction with the fulfillment of military obligations. In every respect, Curtis Scaparrotti has behaved in an exemplary manner, and his numerous accomplishments are likely to impel others to re-examine their own identities as American citizens and to reflect more conscientiously on our incomparable freedoms and solemn duties; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 132nd General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud General Curtis M. Scaparrotti on his recent accolade and extend best wishes for a rewarding future that reflects his significant initiatives; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to General Curtis M. Scaparrotti.
