A BILL
To require the Ohio History Connection to designate Poindexter Village as a state historic site.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. In recognition of one of the first public housing projects in America, developed in 1940, and named for the Reverend James P. Poindexter, the Ohio History Connection shall designate Poindexter Village as a state historic site. Poindexter Village represents the birth and history of public housing in this country and reflects Ohio's place in the national story of the Great Migration. The designation shall identify the buildings at 290 North Champion Avenue, Columbus, as the Poindexter Village Historic Site. The Ohio History Connection shall mark the site, or cause the site to be marked, in accordance with the marking system established for designated historic sites within the state.
