A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring The Butler Institute of American Art on its One Hundredth Anniversary.

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 133rd General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to The Butler Institute of American Art on the auspicious occasion of its One Hundredth Anniversary, commemorated October 19, 2019; and

WHEREAS, This is an important milestone, and celebration is certainly in order. Opened in 1919, The Butler Institute of American Art has become one of the community’s most vibrant and venerable public institutions. Thanks to the generous efforts of a host of local patrons, its dedicated staff, including Executive Director Dr. Louis Zona, and the Youngstown community, it remains an exciting hub of learning, a place of intellectual discovery, and an indispensable center for the preservation of the artistic heritage; and

WHEREAS, Those who have nurtured, directed, and sustained The Butler Institute of American Art merit praise for their remarkable initiative, diligence, and resolve. With a wealth of vision and vitality, they have shown how very much can be accomplished by a group of conscientious, industrious people, and they can be proud that their unflagging commitment to education, history, and the arts has made it possible for the organization to flourish; and

WHEREAS, The Butler Institute of American Art has enhanced the quality of life within the surrounding area, and its generous contributions to Youngstown’s cultural heritage have earned it the gratitude and respect of the community it has so capably served. We are certain that as this worthy facility maintains its dedication to the arts, it will continue in the tradition of excellence that has been the hallmark of the organization since its establishment; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 133rd General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate The Butler Institute of American Art on its One Hundredth Anniversary and offer best wishes for a bright, successful future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to The Butler Institute of American Art.
