A R E S O L U T I O N
Honoring the Kenston High School football team as the 2018 Division III State Champion
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 133rd General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate the Kenston High School football team on winning the 2018 Division III State Championship; and
WHEREAS, Each member of the Kenston High School football team is an excellent young athlete, combining personal ability and competitive spirit with the highest ideals of good sportsmanship to win the 2018 Division III State title, the first such crown in program history. Without exception, team members Justin Georgiou, Tyler Mintz, Bransen Stanley, Logan Vargo, Jack Porter, Matt Iklodi, J.D. Miller, Jay Middleton, Dave Petruziello, Ryan Miller, Joseph Staudenbaur, Jonathan Abbarno, Kole Jarzembak, Stephen Kale, David Cooper, Dorion Talley, Jon Tomcufcik, Frank DiMarco, Anthony Valocchi, Jacob Engelhart, Colin McCleery, Nick Franklin, Garrett Uhlir, Sam Leygraaf, Andy Kooser, Dean Messner, Stanley Sell, Jimmy Kocheff, Sean Lennon, Donaldo Valadez Fuentes, Connor Kramer, Michael Payton, Joseph Martin, Anna Sanders, Kory Laehu, J.P. Germano, Carson Rivera-Gebeau, Aaron Manis, Shane Rothlisberger, Aiden Vanderbilt, Timmy Matty, Blake Torres, Brandon Schroeder, Evan Frygier, Connor Kratzert, Eric Dombrowksi, Jeremiah Jones, Justin Croucher, Cale Doyle, Todd Gruden, Tanner Kuhen, Maison Benz, Harris Skaramagas, Max Czech, Paxton Phillips, Connor Kluesner, Nick Grams, Mitch Shearer, John McClure, Alex Robarge, Justin Schroeder, Mitch Sotera, George Sell, Declan Swope, Lucian Benz, Jack London, Braden Krupp, Nick Cowoski, and Ryan Wharton had prepared conscientiously in pursuit of the championship, devoting countless hours to training and practice in order to ensure peak conditioning; and
WHEREAS, To his credit, Head Coach Jeff Grubich had guided the squad with unwavering expertise and encouragement, and he and his dedicated coaching staff, including assistant coaches Scott Anderson, Reed Cornell, Kurt Gabram, Thomas Grenier, George Gresko, Steve Grubich, Bob Hallen, Mike Henry, Fred Lockinour, Mike Obradovic, Quorey Payne, Bob Ross, Wallace Sonnie, and Steve Teringo, along with the athletic trainer, Viviani McKinney, and student trainers, Sammie Cavanaugh and Sarah Toth, merit enthusiastic praise for coaxing admirable performances out of the Bombers in each competitive outing. Despite sometimes grueling pressure, the many individuals who comprise the KHS football program have consistently maintained their composure and exhibited efficiency and dependability in every challenging encounter; and
WHEREAS, By weathering a rigorous schedule and prevailing over numerous adversaries, including the Archbishop Alter Knights at the 2018 Division III State Championship, the members of the Kenston High School football team have learned much about dedication, self-discipline, leadership, and perseverance. Their first-place finish reflects their strong commitment to the sport, and their indomitable spirit has made their families, friends, and coaches extremely proud. This triumph attests to the steadfast resolve of these young men, and it signifies the momentous legacy that they built together during the season; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 133rd General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the Kenston High School football team for its brilliant season and wish its members continued success in all of their future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Kenston High School.
