A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring Kristine Roegner for setting a United States Powerlifting Association national record for the raw bench press.

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 134th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to commend Kristine Roegner for setting new state and national records for the raw bench press at the United States Powerlifting Association Meet, February 20, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Kristine Roegner’s outstanding ability, drive, and tenacity have distinguished her as a superior competitor. At this year’s USPA Powerlifting Meet in Columbus, she broke the state record with her first press at 62.50 kilograms / 137.79 pounds, replaced that state record with her second press at 65 kilograms / 143.30 pounds, and completed her third press at 65.50 kilograms / 144.40 pounds. As a result of her tremendous performance, she successfully set new state and national records for the raw bench press in the girls ages 16-17 category for the 130-150-pound weight class; and

WHEREAS, Lifters such as Kristine Roegner, a sophomore at Hudson High School, exemplify the qualities necessary for excellence in any sport, including discipline, strength, conditioning, and focus. Indeed, throughout long hours of conditioning, she has demonstrated the talent and motivation that are the hallmarks of a truly exceptional athlete, and she has certainly gained the admiration and respect of all those who have witnessed her in action; and

WHEREAS, Few sports embody the spirit and rewards of individual accomplishment more than powerlifting. Through her participation in this strength sport, Kristine Roegner has learned lessons of perseverance, hard work, and fair and honest competition that will undoubtedly benefit her throughout her life; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 134th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate Kristine Roegner on her outstanding performance at the 2022 United States Powerlifting Association Meet and look to her future with great optimism; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Kristine Roegner.
