A R E S O L U T I O N
In memory of Madeline A. Cain.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 134th General Assembly of Ohio extend our deepest regrets on the passing of Madeline A. Cain and pay tribute to her memory; and
WHEREAS, Madeline Cain will be remembered fondly by all those who knew and loved her, and her absence will leave an irreparable void in our society. She was well known and respected as a courageous advocate for issues important to the growth and progress of the State of Ohio and its people. A community trailblazer, she served as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives for part of Cuyahoga County between 1989 and 1995 and as the first woman mayor of the City of Lakewood from 1996 to 2003. In addition, she had been elected to the Lakewood City Council, and she was active in such political and civic organizations as the Lakewood Business and Professional Women and Chamber of Commerce, Cudell Neighborhood Improvement, Inc., the West Boulevard Neighborhood Association, the Citizens League of Greater Cleveland, the Cuyahoga County Women’s Political Caucus and Democratic Party, and the Ohio Women’s Policy and Research Commission. She will be remembered eternally for her tireless example of dedicated leadership; and
WHEREAS, Madeline Cain’s passion for community service was always evident in her own approach to public office, and she strove to be an effective voice for her fellow Ohioans. Indeed, she was admired by her peers, constituents, friends, and family alike for her positive philosophy of life, and she established a stalwart legacy of commitment to our state that will surely live on; and
WHEREAS, Without question, Madeline Cain made the world much fuller, especially for the individuals who had a treasured relationship with her, and she was endlessly devoted to her family. All those who cherished her can find strength in the embrace of family and friends and solace in the happy memories of this truly great woman, for Lakewood, Greater Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, and the State of Ohio have benefited exponentially from her life’s work; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 134th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, offer our sincere condolences over the loss of Madeline A. Cain; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the family of Madeline A. Cain.
