A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring Ayeva Tilley as a State Powerlifting Champion in the 115-pound weight class.

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 134th General Assembly of Ohio take great pride in honoring Ayeva Tilley, a junior at Tippecanoe High School, on winning the Divisions I-IV State Championship in the 115-pound weight class at the 2022 Ohio High School Powerlifting Meet; and

WHEREAS, Ayeva Tilley’s outstanding ability and spirited drive, as well as her tenacity, have distinguished her as a superior athlete, and as a result, she won the state title in the 115-pound weight class for Divisions I-IV and broke the state record with a 305-pound deadlift at this year’s Ohio High School Powerlifting Meet. Indeed, she has gained the admiration and respect of all those who have witnessed her in action; and

WHEREAS, Few sports embody the spirit of individual accomplishment more than powerlifting. Champion lifters such as Ayeva Tilley exemplify the qualities necessary for excellence in any sport, including discipline, strength, and focus. Throughout long hours of conditioning and competition, she has consistently demonstrated the talent and motivation that are the hallmarks of a true champion; and

WHEREAS, In an educational system that seeks to teach the future leaders of our state and nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and the rewards of individual effort, high school athletic competition has become a valuable educational tool. Through her participation in powerlifting, Ayeva Tilley has learned lessons of perseverance, hard work, and fair and honest competition that will undoubtedly benefit her throughout her life; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 134th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate Ayeva Tilley on her impressive performance in state competition and look to her future with great optimism; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Ayeva Tilley.
