A R E S O L U T I O N

In Memory of Lieutenant Philip Michael Wigal.

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 134th General Assembly of Ohio were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Lieutenant Philip Michael Wigal and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Phil Wigal left an indelible impression on the people whose lives he touched, and he will be remembered as a spirited individual who contributed immeasurably to the world around him. Commencing his service as a part-time firefighter for the Town and Country Fire District in 2006, he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant five years later and hired full time in 2014. In addition, he contributed his skill to the fire service as an inspector and EMS instructor as well as through his part time work with the Lodi and Canaan fire departments. He established a reputation for kindness and generosity that touched many people in ways simple and profound; and

WHEREAS, The devotion to duty that Phil Wigal showed in all of his endeavors earned him the genuine respect and gratitude of his colleagues and of the community he so capably served. Indeed, the Town and Country Fire District, the Village of West Salem, and the State of Ohio have all been enriched by his loyalty and commitment, and he will be truly missed; and

WHEREAS, A loving husband to his wife, Lindsey, an adoring father to his daughters, Gracelynn and Gwendelynn, and a treasure to his family, including his parents, Mike and Kathy, his brother, Matt, and his nieces and nephews, Phil Wigal bettered the world around him with his exceptional concern and insight. Although the void his death has created can never be filled, the legacy of care and commitment he established will surely live on, and his absence will be keenly felt; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 134th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, express a profound sense of loss and sincere regret at the death of Lieutenant Philip Michael Wigal and, in so doing, pay tribute to the memory of a truly unique man; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the family of Lieutenant Philip Michael Wigal.
