A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring the St. John’s Jesuit High School boys 1600-meter relay team
on winning the 2023 Division I State Championship.

WHEREAS,  The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to the St. John’s Jesuit High School boys 1600-meter relay team as the 2023 Division I State Champion; and

WHEREAS,  The members of the St. John’s Jesuit High School boys 1600-meter relay team demonstrated remarkable energy, enthusiasm, and dedication at this year’s Division I State Meet. Together, Caleb Kelly, Caleb Root, Tre Green, and Joseph Taylor ran an impressive race, finishing in first place with a time of 3:13.94, and the Titans’ unwavering commitment has earned them this prestigious distinction; and 

WHEREAS,  Emerging as winners both in and out of competition, the young men on the St. John’s Jesuit High School boys 1600-meter relay team are certainly deserving of high praise. Their outstanding success is due largely to the guidance they received from their coach, Steve Spenthoff, and their tireless efforts have gained them the respect and admiration of all who know them; and

WHEREAS,  In an educational system that seeks to teach the future leaders of our state and nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and the rewards of individual and group effort, athletic competition has become a valuable tool. The athletes that comprise the St. John’s Jesuit High School boys 1600-meter relay team have learned the important lessons of discipline, perseverance, hard work, and good sportsmanship that will be greatly beneficial for their continued success; therefore be it

RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the St. John’s Jesuit High School boys 1600-meter relay team for exemplary achievement and salute this fine squad for its victory at this year’s state meet; and be it further

RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the St. John’s Jesuit High School boys 1600-meter relay team.
