A R E S O L U T I O N
In memory of Stanley J. Aronoff.
WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th General Assembly of Ohio pay tribute to the memory of Stanley J. Aronoff, who served as a distinguished member of the Ohio House of Representatives and the Ohio Senate; and
WHEREAS, Stan Aronoff will be remembered fondly by all those who knew and loved him, and his absence will leave an irreparable void in our society. Respected for his tenure with the Ohio General Assembly, he was an advocate for the growth and progress of the State of Ohio and its people, and during his time as a legislator, he was an ardent champion for Republican interests as well as the arts. Indeed, he has been credited with establishing the Ohio Arts Council and for supporting the restoration of the Ohio Statehouse, and he has been celebrated for his noteworthy commitment by the naming of the Aronoff Center for the Arts in Cincinnati, the Aronoff Center for Design and Art at the University of Cincinnati, and the Stanley J. Aronoff Laboratory of Biological Sciences at The Ohio State University in his honor; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Harvard Law School, Stan Aronoff was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives in 1960, where he served three terms and garnered enduring respect from his peers as well as his constituents. In 1967, he was elected to the Ohio Senate, where he spent many of his additional thirty years as a legislator in the positions of president pro tempore and president. His passion for community service was always evident in his own approach to public life, and he strove to be "remembered for more than the bricks and mortar [but] as a person who cares about people." He furthered his contributions to Greater Cincinnati as a lawyer, lobbyist, and consultant, working with Aronoff, Rosen, and Hunt, LPA, Aronoff & Associates, and State Street Consultants, and he dedicated his time to such organizations as the Cincinnati Association for the Arts, the Cincinnati Contemporary Arts Center, the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, and the Classical Music Hall of Fame. He was admired by his fellow citizens, friends, and family alike for his positive philosophy of life, and he has left a stalwart legacy to our state that will surely live on; and
WHEREAS, Without question, Stan Aronoff made the world much fuller, and he was especially devoted to the individuals who had a treasured relationship with him, including his wife, Janet, his children, Tracy, the late Jay, and the late Leslie, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his siblings and extended relatives. All those who cherished him can find strength in and solace in the happy moments shared with this great man. Most assuredly, the State of Ohio has benefited exponentially from his life’s work, and he will be remembered for his visionary example of citizenship; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, offer our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Stanley J. Aronoff and express a profound sense of loss and sincere regret on the sorrowful occasion of his death; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the family of Stanley J. Aronoff.
