A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring the Akron Garden Club
on its One Hundredth Anniversary.

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to the Akron Garden Club on its Centennial; and

WHEREAS, The Akron Garden Club has made numerous significant contributions that have enhanced the quality of life in the area, and it has earned the well-deserved respect and appreciation of many. Established by F.A. Seiberling in 1924 in her home, Stan Hywet Hall, the organization was a founding member of the Garden Club of Ohio and an instrumental force in the founding of the Garden Forum of Greater Akron. Since joining the Garden Club of America in 1945, it has become a leader among its fellow clubs as well as a dynamic force in the community; and

WHEREAS, It is through the work of initiatives such as the Akron Garden Club that Ohio has gained a reputation for its willingness to invest in the preservation and enhancement of the state’s natural beauty. Indeed, the organization has sponsored a number of horticulture, conservation, and civic improvement projects, including the development of Cascade Locks Park, the rescuing of native wildflowers, the eradication of invasive species, and the maintenance of the Stan Hywet Hall English Gardens. These examples of unwavering commitment to the highest standards of community service will ensure that the Akron Garden Club will continue its tradition of excellence long into the future; and

WHEREAS, Through the many beneficial programs and activities of the Akron Garden Club, the members, supporters, and volunteers have not only had the opportunity to express their personal talents and skills but also to better the lives of those around them. All those who have been involved with the club’s mission are to be commended for their tremendous efforts to help others, and they are deserving of the highest praise; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate the Akron Garden Club on its One Hundredth Anniversary and salute all those celebrating this milestone; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Akron Garden Club.
