Honoring the Manatoc Scout Reservation on its Centennial.

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to the Manatoc Scout Reservation of the Great Trail Council of the Boy Scouts of America as it celebrates its One Hundredth Anniversary; and

WHEREAS, The Manatoc Scout Reservation has helped numerous children and young adults to prepare themselves for meaningful and productive roles in society through adherence to such principles as trustworthiness, leadership, and initiative. Camp Manatoc opened as a summer camp by the Boy Scouts in 1923 on land donated by Akron industrialist H. Karl Butler, and it expanded with additional acreage in 1932, later adding Camp Butler to become the Manatoc Scout Reservation. Since its founding, the reservation has provided countless individuals with an opportunity to share and enjoy an atmosphere of fellowship and camaraderie, as well as to experience a wide range of activities that help build character and skills. Indeed, this outstanding facility has greatly enriched the lives of those who have attended it, and all those associated with the camps are truly deserving of high praise; and

WHEREAS, Willingly giving of their time, energy, and abilities, the staff and volunteers at the Manatoc Scout Reservation have worked tirelessly to create a memorable experience for the scouts. We are proud to note that it is through the diligent efforts of conscientious individuals such as these that the State of Ohio continues to grow and prosper and remains a pleasant place in which to live and work; and

WHEREAS, Scouting combines the wisdom and leadership of adults with the enthusiasm and optimism of youth so that our young people will be better prepared for the years to come. The ongoing support of those affiliated with the Manatoc Scout Reservation is further assurance that scouts will receive the guidance and understanding needed to encourage them to strive for excellence in all their endeavors; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud the Manatoc Scout Reservation of the Great Trail Council of the Boy Scouts of America on its One Hundredth Anniversary and salute its staff and volunteers as outstanding Ohioans; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Manatoc Scout Reservation.
